Marry My Husband is streaming on Prime Video. It stars Park Min Young, Na In Woo, Lee Yi Kyung, and Song Ha Yoon. After watching this drama. I feel like I need to share my thoughts about this drama. It’s a mix of emotions and opinions, but overall, I really enjoyed it.
First off, the story is intriguing. It’s about Kang Ji Won, who gets a chance to go back ten years in time after being betrayed by her husband and best friend. This setup caught my attention from the start. The idea of changing your fate, mixed with revenge and self-discovery, made me eager to see how Ji Won’s journey would unfold.
Kang Ji Won’s character development is one of the highlights for me. In the beginning, she’s meek, living in her best friend’s shadow. But after her death, Ji Won starts to change. Her transformation from a passive person to someone who takes control of her life and seeks justice is inspiring. However, towards the end, when her quest for revenge intensifies, she loses some of her empathy, which made me question if the change was entirely positive.
The other characters have their ups and downs. Park Min Hwan and Jung Soo Min, the main antagonists, are just awful. Min Hwan is selfish and greedy, with no care for anyone but himself. Soo Min is obsessed with Ji Won, willing to do anything to keep her close. Their lack of redeeming qualities makes them easy to dislike, but the actors played these roles so well, especially Song Ha Yoon as Soo Min.
Yoo Ji Hyuk’s role in the drama confused me. His sudden realization of love for Ji Won felt out of place. His character could have been developed more, offering more than just being Ji Won’s supporter.
Some parts of the drama felt unnecessary, like the addition of Oh Yoo Ra. Her character didn’t add much to the story. Also, the drama’s reliance on clichés, like the makeover trope, felt outdated. Despite these critiques, there’s so much I loved. The pacing is mostly good, and the acting is outstanding. Park Min Young, as Ji Won, made me root for her all the way. Na In Woo, as the supportive male lead, added a nice touch to the romance aspect, even though it wasn’t the main focus.
The drama does well in contrasting Ji Won’s first and second lives, especially with the flashbacks. It’s visually appealing and helps in understanding her growth. Even though there are plot holes, and some characters didn’t make much sense to me, the drama’s strengths outweigh its flaws. It kept me hooked from start to finish, with some amazing scenes and performances. The blend of romance, comedy, betrayal, and revenge was well-executed, making it a memorable watch.
Would I rewatch it? Maybe. It’s not an all-time favorite, but it’s definitely worth watching at least once, especially for those who love a good mix of genres with a strong female lead. So, if you’re looking for a drama that’s a bit different from the rest, give “Marry My Husband” a try.
